View Full Version : C5 front suspension swap questions.

I have a few questions so bear with me.

1)Does anyone have the front wms-wms measurement for a stock C5/6?

2)Are there any good measurements for pick up points on the net? Anyone willing to share theirs? I have been searching but all I seem to find is "download Suspension Analyzer" and it seems the measurements are off according to posts I have found here.

3)I understand that more camber gain may be better but how much more?

4)Is there any aftermarket UCA with a standard cross shaft and the reversed upper ball joint? Think a standard cross shaft would be much easier to use and possibly free up some room under hood.

My plan is to build a full frame for my S10 and the C5 front end seems to offer most of what I want with some fine tuning but I'm not sure if it will even work because of how much it may need to be narrowed. To run C5/6 rims (with adapters) the S10s wms-wms will end up at 59"+/- so that's what I'm shooting for. Going to purchase a suspension program in the coming months to figure out bumpsteer, RCH and everything else. Just looking for a starting point.

Any help is much appreciated.

Found a couple of my answers. In case anyone else needs them here they are.

1)wms-wms is 1692mm or roughly 66.614"

4)DSE uses a cross shaft UCA on their 1st gen F body subframe.

Still looking for answers to #2 and #3. Anyone?

Pm'd silver69camaro for the factory specs and he was nice enough to send them to me.
I have been messing around with Suspension Analyzer with narrowing it to fit, fixing the camber gain and trying to fix bump steer with a fox body r&p and moving the rack down a bit. It's funny how doing this swap will open up room under the hood which is always good with a S10.

I've been searching my butt off, been working out good. Found all my answers.

2)I have the factory specs now, pm or email me.

3)This screen shot answered the camber gain and some other stuff I forgot to ask.

Figured I'd update this. Started a new job with lots over overtime..

Matt was kind enough to share his specs and said I could post them.

Here is the best post I found on setting it up in other cars, from Matt.

Here are the measurements from suspension analyzer. They are a little off but it might help make Matt's info make a little more sense.
