I was there the whole weekend and watched all of the autocross. That thing is super radical, and he drove the heck out of it, beating out Kyle by barely a tenth of a second. Congrats to him.

BUT, lol, Mary Pozzi can lay claim to the fastest time of the weekend...32.013 sec. That was an amazing run.

It was a tough battle throughout the entire competition and the eliminations were fun. The qualifying had me on top with Dave second and Mike third. The bracket eliminations weren't like NHRA Pro where the quickest runs against the slowest and such but rather on random times. Unfortunately, Dave and I were in adjacent brackets and as we both advanced, we met in the second round (Dave lost ...). I advanced another round and then faced Kyle Tucker where I brushed a cone (only damn cone I hit all weekend). Kyle advanced and ran off against Mike who had a bye for the win.

Thought about swiping that cone and setting it on fire. As the winning vendor received $5,000, that had the possibility of being one very expensive pylon.

Congratulations to Mike and he did a great job this weekend taking the Vendor Challenge AND the Street Machine class.

I need to thank James Shipka and Jimi Day for inviting me to drive the Optima One Lap Camaro at this event. We've fussed and fretted over that car so much the last two years, it's really nice to look back and see how far it's come.

Wow.. If any one wanted me to win a race logging on to a forum I would loose by a chunk. I haven't said much cause ... well..I couldn't remember my password.. and I was kinda lazy getting a new one. Any way, thanks for all the props. Marry & Dave were faster than me on Sunday, I was just happy to have gotten my car close on the set up. The last couple of weekends have been a thrash getting it kinda sorted out. Those of you that were there saw the pile of springs and bars by the car. I think every one stepped it up. Dave and Marry did great. Thanks again for all the support.

Goodguys 1st AutoCross Sponsor Shootout
What a success the Sponsor Shootout was at the Goodguys 14th PPG Nationals in Columbus Ohio. Here is how this all laid out and who ran who for the final winning spot and the $5,000.00 that Goodguys put towards this event.

At 9:00am on Sunday we let all 12 sponsoring companies run their cars for one hour to get familiar with the track and their cars. This was great as most had not been on the track that much over the weekend.

At 10:00am the two lap qualifying was started and the best time of their two tries would set their spot on the ladder for eliminations. Below are the times and the company from qualifying.

32.013 Hotchkis Mary Pozzi
32.134 Optima David Pozzi
32.159 Bridgestone Mike Maiers
32.714 Auto Meter Ryan Mathews
32.881 BF Goodrich Kyle Tucker
33.189 AFCO Stacy Tucker
33.339 Roadster Shop Phil Gerber
33.451 Spectre Perf Brandy Morrow
33.694 PEAK Perf Britt Marolf
33.890 Gateway Classic Brian Finch
33.913 RideTech Bret Voelkel
34.959 Gearstar Roger Burman

Goodguys used a circle track ladder to set the field with #1 running #7 and #2 running #8 and so on to keep the times close all the way across. This set a few really good battles up as we got further in the eliminations.

Hothckis ran the Roadster Shop with Hotchkis winning with a 32.501
Optima ran Spectre with Optima winning with a time of 32.439
Bridgestone ran PEAK with Bridgestone winning with a 32.545
AutoMeter ran Gateway with AutoMeter winning with a 32.878
BFGoodrich ran RideTech with BFGoodrich winning with a 32.847
AFCO ran Gearstar with AFCO winning with a time of 33.512

The first round of eliminations brought all the fast drivers to the front and set up a few really good matches like two husband and wife run offs.

Round two:
Hotchkis Mary Pozzi to run Optima David Pozzi with Hotchkis winning 32.552
Bridgestone to run AutoMeter with a Bridgestone winning 32.254
BFGoodrich Kyle Tucker to run AFCO Stacy Tucker with BFG winning 32.849

This set the fast time of Bridgestone 32.254 to receive a bye while Hotchkis and BFGoodrich would race to see who would run Bridgestone for the win.

Hotchkis with the fastest time went first and Mary hit a cone. BFGoodrich Kyle ran and had a clean run to set a 32.960 and got to move into the final with Bridgestone.

After a Rock Paper Scissors competition Kyle won and decided to let Mike go first. The end result was Bridgestone running the winning time of 32.442 to edge out BFGoodrich by two one hundredths.

Bridgestone’s Mike Maier’s in a 1966 Ford Mustang wins the first Goodguys Sponsor Shootout.

Congrats to all who participated and everyone that watched this great racing on Sunday.

I was fortunate enough to chat w Mike for about 5 mins while his car was on the jack and what looked like he was swapping springs. The car, the MOTOR, is simply bad a**. Oh yeah, he's a pretty good wheelman and a great guy!

Thanks Mike for taking time out to BS. Great meeting you...

It's the shocks! :):):)
Bret, I had some understeer and felt the front have some slight rumbling vibration at the same time. I backed off front rebound and it went away, the car was better balanced and my times dropped. It's really satisfying to make an adjustment like that and go quicker. The Ride Tech shocks are awesome!
