Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if any had any info on which front suspension parts of other make/year gm parts work on a 79 Grand Prix. Especially the control arms. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Robert

I was wondering if any had any info on which front suspension parts of other make/year gm parts work on a 79 Grand Prix.

The '78-'88 A/Gs(Cutlass, Regal, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Malibu, LeMans...) used mostly the same suspension. 78 is an odd ball year as this year had slightly different spindles and some steering linkage differences from the 79-88 cars. In 82 the wheel studs went from SAE to Metric.

The '82-'04 2wd S series trucks use the same front suspension. With the exception of the sway bar and centerlink being narrower, and one of the bushings in the FLCA uses a 14mm bolt rather than 12. 98-up ZQ8 Blazers using a sealed hub/bearing with divorced rotors and PBR twin piston calipers. All these trucks came with stiffer ~600lb/in front springs.

'82-'02 F bods use the same RLCA. '82-'92 FLCA is the same as well, different bushings. TA/IROC/Z28 cars have the better steering box and thicker front sway bar.

That's the quick and dirty.
