I talked with the man briefly also. He was from Texas, the car was running a 455 bored to 460 something. 275 front rubber and 335 rears. Man he could drive the thing too, stayed in the lowest time groups on both days.

I heard that he had a bit of autocross / race experience ..
The Buick was flying !!!
It's good to see those cars being driven and actually running comparative times .

Yea I know I don't get on here too much. Here is a link on the V8Buick forum about the buildup of 3GS. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=199851
I actually did my first autocross while at Texas A&M university in 1974. Back then we would do one high speed event per year called Aggiecross at Texas World Speedway. I got involved in SCCA Solo II from 1978-1984. Our four children started coming in rapid succession at that point. I hung up the helmet until 1997 when I started attending Time Trial/Driver Education events. I've done that off and on until now.

Thanks for coming up Paul .
There may be another event at Nashville in the fall.
There are rumors of a Texas event in the works .

I gotta give that link to my brother in law .
He is redoing a '69 Skylark.

A Texas event would be awesome! We have Texas World Speedway, Harris Hill, and two Motorsports Ranches, one below Houston and one below Fort Worth in Cresson. Texas World is a big track near College Station. I reach about 160 on the front straight in my Vette! Harris Hill is in San Marcos and is a smaller tighter track with lots of elevation changes that is lots of fun but hard on brakes. The track in Cresson has a new layout that I haven't been on yet and I've never been to the Houston track but I hear it's very flat. And then in about a year Austin will have The Circuit of The Americas where the US F1 race will be. They say they will let mere mortals like us on it. If I can help organize something let me know.

I loved this Buick..... as I used to flog around in a '72 Vega GT with an all aluminum '63 Buick Special 215 cubic inch V8.
Got a couple videos of it, too.
