Ok, So I have a 8.75 rear in my 68 Charger, had the housing powder coate, and then was going to have new gears 3:55, (old was 2.76) and posi aded to it, took it to a shop amd he is quoting me about 2k to do it all, is this correct? I can buy a new Strange for 1900, and a moser for 2200, is it worth the work?, Car is going to be a pro-touring.

Thanks all.

For a bench install shouldn't be more than a couple hundred bucks plus parts....

What's the name of that shop?

But, is that with you handing them the center section that you take out of the car? Or is that taking the whole car to a shop and them doing everything? Also, is that including replacing the axle bearings.

Guys in our Mopar club have had good luck with Ram Jet rear end in Sun Valley in north San Fernando Valley.

Think of it this way... I used to do gears, bearing's, new posi and new axles (bearing and seals included, cleaner sealer and locktite... with a paint job)... for right around $1200 in car. Less $50 for a bench job.

All... day... long.

$2k... ? Does that include the crack... for the crack pipe ?

A complete new center section with tru track or limited slip and gears is about $1200 most places give or take.

You better find a new shop. IMHO

Ok guys, I handed him a newly powder costed housing, the axles and center section, all apart, he gave me a parts list of $678 for posi, $248 for gears, $168 for bearrings, and another $120 for another set of bearrings, + 40 bucks in gaskets and new harware total of $1254 in parts and 620 in labor, he said it was all American made stuff, not the cheap China stuff, ok all that said, I have used him for other stuff and he has always been pretty fair, with supension stuff, and everone deserves to make a living, now I am thinking of selling the whole thing for about 700 bucks and buying a Strange/Moser/Currie built rear, can get most of them for about 2k to 220047110

Uhhh... his prices are still a little high.

$550 - posi (OEM even cheaper)
$220 - gears (US)
$140 - bearings (Timken)

$350 to screw everything together

Those are standard shop rates for professional assembly in San Diego... 'normal guy price.'

Word to the wise... stay away from Moser.

Can anyone reccomend a good rearend shop in Anaheim or OC for me to take mine too? it is out of the car, and newly powder coated, want to add posi, and change grears and bearrings.
