Hello,

I just finished putting my 70 camaro together; tko600, new driveshaft, currie 9 inch, wilwood disc brakes all four corners...

When I decelerate and push the brake pedal I hear and feel through the body a thump thump thump whenever the brakes are applied. It feels as if it is coming from the center of the car. The car stops very well and I cannot feel pulsing in the pedal.

Any suggestions??

Thanks guys,

Matt

get the car up on a lift and check for fresh rubbed metal. With the TKO I'm willing to guess its the front driveshaft u joint hitting the mid car floor brace.

Check your u-joints, trans mount, engine mounts, and you u-bolts on your rear end.

I had his same issue once on a 69 Camaro and it was one of the front leaf spring mounts. I had just bought the car because the former owner was tired of trying to find the problem.

Hey I checked the driveshaft; it is free of obstructions and all of the mounts are tight...how should I proceed now?

PS how would I check the leaf spring mount?

Thanks

Is the transmission hitting the tunnel or floorboard ?

Could the pinion angle be changing drasticly enough with the decelerationa and breaks to cause some sort of bind?

Strap a video camera under the car and take a video of the thing while driving.

Second on the u-joint. On deceleration the pinion with go downward and possibly change angle enough to bind a u-joint
