I am in the middle of rebuilding the front end on my camaro. I was wondering if there was an option out there for any plated hardware that would reduce rusting for the lower controll arms? If not I was going to just media blast the factory hardware and re-use.

I did a search and found nothing on this here or on google. Any help is appreciated.

But will stainless have the tensil strength? I don't even know what grade those fasteners are.

*EDIT* Nevermind they have grade 8 stainless.

Do a search, there's info on stainless and other fasteners.

Just say no to stainless in structural/life critical applications.

I think you would be ok with blasting the original bolts if they are in good shape. If they have some corrosion on them then no. But just to clean them up yes. Stainless? Well yup, you can get a small variety of stainless fasteners that are very strong. But they are usually small fasteners for specific purposes and expensive. Id stay away from them for suspension purposes. JR

Got my stainless bolt kit from Frank at Prodigy Customs. All are button allen head bolts.

Totally Stainless makes a high strength chassis bolt kit made up using ARP bolts. They are very expensive.

same here

Yellow zinc dichromate GR 8 fasteners for all structural applications. Not even discussing tensile strength issues, stainless loves to gall with contact to dissimilar metals.

MUST use antiseize on stainless.

Frank,

Agreed, but what are your thoughts on using Anti-seize in structural apps?

I only use it on stainless and I do not use stainless on structural apps
