Ok so i think this CAN have the potential to turn into a sticky worthy thread. there are alot of threads asking will this look good on this etc. so this is a chance to both show off what you have aswell as inform others of what they can do to thiers.

things you need to post if you can:

- wheel size front/rear

- tire size front/rear

- make/model of tire

- make/model of wheel

- offset or backspacing

with that being said lets see what you got!

i'll be able to contribute to this in about 2 weeks (hopefully sooner not later!)

I'd like to add though another parameter for BBKs. I'm finding myself searching for BBK friendly rims which are just more concave on the spokes normally or have the wheel face further out.

Big Brake Kit (BBK) = Yes or No?
If yes, which one = ??

Finch and B-man.

Did you guys run into any problems with fitment of the wheels over the Z06 brakes? My 18" O.Z wheels swallow up the Z06 brakes like they're nothing, tons of room between the spokes and the calipers. Not every 18" wheel design will fit over them, but mine were a slam-dunk.

Pic of the backside showing how the spoke shape curves outward and away from the calipers:

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/DSC02946-1.jpg

Up front the adapter moves the wheel out by a little more than one inch providing more caliper clearance, but even without the adapter they would easily clear the calipers.

Before buying my Z06 brakes I printed out the templates provided on the KORE3 website to check for adequate clearance.

Nice setup! I'm going a similar route. Got any pics of how the front C6Z06 fits on an 18" wheel?

Here's a pic with no calipers in place taken during the front suspension install (SPC control arms-ATS spindles), that's the best I can do for right now until the braking system is completed.

.....utilizing a set of custom-built and painted 17X8" steel wheels.

I had these wheels built and painted back this way in 1999 so the 17" low-profile tires and wheels would look like a set of 14" rims with redline tires mounted on them until you took a closer look.

I went with the same size tire all around so I could rotate them, plus at the time I didn't want a look that was 'over the top' for my 'sleeper' daily driver.

- 17X8" wheel size front & rear

- 235/45-17 tire size front & rear

- Steel GM factory 15" wheel centers welded into 17X8" hoops

- Zero offset = 4.5" backspacing

I minitubbed the rear by making new frame rails which were moved in 4" from stock and they go up 4" higher in the car so I can tuck them. I have room for 16" of tire whenever they make them. We sprayed a reflex truck bedliner on when the metalwork was done because I plan on driving this car all over when it is done. The top pic gives you an idea of how much room we gained as the outer wheelwell was not cut out yet.

Glad to help out. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away. I drive mine a lot (43k miles in 2 years), so I can probably give a decent answer to anything you might be looking to know.

From everything that I have read thus far, yes, 2010 production will continue. In fact, dealers can start ordering '10 model SRTs now.

Rumor has is the '11 model will not exist while SRT gets everything ready for the newly designed Grand Cherokee in 2012. Rumors are also indicating a 6.4L 500+- HP HEMI. If that last part comes to be, I WILL be trading up. :6gears:

Man,that is a beautiful El Camino! Makes me want to build another one, soon.
My suggestion on headers would be the Sanderson intermediates. They really tuck in tight and just about eliminate ground clearance concerns. I've run them on lowered El Caminos, both sbc & bbc, with excellent results.

I personally feel than everyone that owns a Gm B-body should also own a G-body. They are natural stablemates. In particular, these two pictured represent the highest form production took each chassis to. My goal is to have a G-body wagon to go with my B-body wagon.

They're 17x 9 front and 17 x 11 rears wearing 275 40 17's and 315 35 17's. I like how the black hoops make the wheels look like they have stock like tall tires mounted.

Althought not your typical PT setup, I want to share anyway. Slowly... but surely this project is coming along.

Fitment:
22x9 front with 6.5" backspace 245/30/22
22x9 rear with 5.5" backspace 255/30/22

UMI 4035-B solid front sway bar (1.25")
KYB KG4515 front monotubes
KYB KG5507 rear monotubes
OEM spongy worn out saggy butt springs

Next upgrades on my "to-do" list:
ECI Narrow-Track disc conversion (unless I can get an answer from Wilwood regarding their products and track width change)
Possibly Airride- or at least drop coils from OPGI since they seem to be the only place I've found to sell 2" and 3" drop springs.

I get a little rub up front when turned at full lock when going through dips/driveways but it's manageable until I can narrow the front track alittle. As for the wheels, they Raceline and use a Centerline Forging- they weight about 61lbs with tires mounted each... I was very suprised when I brought them home.

I know most of you won't like this setup.... but I have done some homework and it's not a daily driver or full PT competition car, it's a fun cruiser and I still have quite a few plans for improvements- as everyone knows, it just takes time and money.

i like it man, as soon as my wheels show up next week i will be running 22 on my chevelle. not the best for the track, but hey, if its jsut cruising and showing, do whatever makes it look best in your eyes, even if theyre 30" lol

Steve,

I should mention that my car is no where near stock as far as the chassis goes so please don't go ordering the same wheels thinking they will fit. My car has a custom full square stock frame with a full custom floor pan, a Currie HD narrowed rear and a C.A. Chassisworks front clip. I actually ordered the wheels and tires then had the chassis built around them (of course this was back when 17s were HUGE and nobody was running them LOL).

Thanks Morgan,
I'm tubbing my 68 and installing a Prodigy triangulated 4link with a narrowed 12 bolt and DSE or Art Morrison front sub-frame. I'm not a big fan of 18" and bigger wheels but I love the look of your wheels. It reminds me of the old Trans Am racers. To be honest I would stay with 15" wheels except that would severly limit my brake size so I'm compromising on 17". What gear ratio are you running in rear end? Do you have more photos? I would love to see what it looks like from directly behind. I went to your web site but the Camaro's images are frustratingly ghosted under other images so it is hard to get a really good look.

Steve,

I just went to my build site (www.strokerss.com) and realized that i don't have any good shots from the back there either. I'll take some this weekend and post them up for you. I should have done that after i put the drag radials on anyway. Thanks for the compliments on my car's look. A '60s Trans Am racer is exactly what I was going for - as if GM built a limited edition SS Camaro with a 383 Stroker designed for Trans Am series racing and in order to get it approved they had to make it in a convertible just like the pilot Z28.

Very good value, if you like factory styled wheels, but they are not particularly light.

Been wanting the Mini-Lite look for years now, but with bigger rim sizes than 15"s

Front:
255/45/18

Rear
285/40/18

Hotchkis TVS system installed with 2 inch drop, slide-a-links traction control, and Nitto Tires.

I still swear I could have gotten 295's+ in the back though :ssst:

Had 2002 Z06 Wheels originally and then we started a complete rebuild on the car and are now doing 19x8 and 20x10 Rushforth Livewires. The frame has a 1-1/2 mini tub done to tuck the wheels more now since it was so tight with the 18x10.5 and 17x9.5 that the Z06 wheels had.

Ambit FF4's. Flow formed 18x10.5 with +15mm of offset. 21lbs each and were only 600$ for all 4! Best bang for your buck.
