View Full Version : Z069 Update.. So close to being done! (56k beware!!)

Almost done and almost ready to deliver to the new owner.. All that is left is a few dash wiring deals, wire up the wipers, fix a gas tank sending issue, dyno tune and then detail.

Gotta say it has been a learning experience and I hope to carry that knowledge forward into my next project.

So I present the finished product..

I didn't have the trans temp guage installed yet.. it is now. I have new pics but they are not on my server yet.. The interior was simple but came out nice, still waiting for my billet door handles to arrive..

I'd love to come down but, with only 7 weekends until my wedding I'm going to be swamped every weekend.

Sweet car! I hope when mine is complete to be 1/2 as nice.

Looks to be out of a 97+ F-Body. Only the 97+'s had the flip out cup holder on the front like that. The more people I see fitting 4th gen center consoles in first gens, the more it makes me want to put one in mine.

Absolutely beautiful car Steve! :kewlpics:

That is one beautiful car. I couldn't sell it. I just couldn't. I know what your're getting to replace it and it is very nice also.

BTW....where/who did you get the badging (Z069) from. I know its custom made.

thanks,

Jay

I got the emblem from a corvette shop.. Eichlers I believe.. billet and $99 EACH.. gulp.. but they just worked so well on the car :)

Yep, center console is out of a 2000 fbody.. easy to install and you can get them in A4 or for manual transmissions. Nice to have the arm rest, cup holders and most of all have 12v plugs. We made the transition out of plastic and then covered it in material. More pics on my website. Pics look a little grey since the flash was going off when shooting in the car. In real life it is more black.

Thanks guys..

Absolutely gorgeous car. Those wheels just look so right. I certainly wouldn't kick it out of my driveway for dripping oil!
Guess I better "save" some pictures of it for my car porn folder.

Steve, it's an incredible car. I don't see any flaws anywhere... Since I'm in your neighborhood, who did your upholstery?

Ahhh.. the beauty of photograpy ;)

ie.. there are flaws but it sure does photograph pretty..

Westminster Auto Upholstery in Anaheim, CA, did the soft work.. They were well priced and I knew they could stitch a straight line

LOTS of good places around here though.. If you want GOOD stuff go to Gabes or if you have a big budget go to Mahood :)

It stops as fast as you want it, but since it's manual you have to WANT it to stop..

Actually it's good.. I worked with Wilwood and got the right master cylinder. I have never liked power brakes and I like the more mechanical feel of manual brakes. These wilwood pads squeel like a dying animal so they are sending me out some with their new super duper compound :)

Besides, I have 20 pistons worth of stopping power.. who needs a booster?? ;)

I kinda like that.. but I would embellish it with "bad".. project "bad penny" hmmmm

I was going to go with Orange Crush since I think the color is closer to orange than copper.. but good name! :)

Sadly, not an option... too far away from Seattle. :( I've got plans to do PCH drive from Seattle down to LA, so one day maybe.

Steve,
That is one amazing car. I didn't even know you were selling the 69.
Well the new 68 looks like a killer car. Great Work. I bet it has been a long haul with the buildup on this car but you built one beautiful car.

Mopork, I believe the color is a Subaru WR blue pearl with Nissan 350Z grey stripes.

Interior shots are on my site :)

Stereo story.. the parts are in my garage but I told the buyer that for $60k he has to do his own :) I think I said "I am not gonna put in $2k worth of stereo so I can get $1000 more for my car. This way you can put in what YOU want".. he said "ok"..

that is way to close to the color combo i am going to use. I was thinkin of usin both Z colors... the 350Z Blue and the 350Z grey... And im doing a different stripe idea so it wont be terribly similar... But at least seeing yours gives me GREAT confidence that my car will look killer when its done.

Steve1968LS2
03-31-2005, 09:50 AM
keep in mind the 350z blue color has a LOT of purple in it.. :)

The WRX color is a pretty pure blue..

You combo does sound very nice though :D
