look at the black tubing. i know this is a GT350 but i would really like to do something like this on my 79 cutlass. do you guys think its possible and if so how would i do that?

thanks;

You could do it exactly like those guys have done it... but I'd think you need it more for the front brakes.

For a road racer car, I wouldn't be running rear drums; I'd have disks back there.

I'm kinda curious how hot the air would be. For a car with no vents in the hood or fenders, you'd be pulling air off the hot engine, exhaust and tranny. But... I don't know what brake temps are... maybe the 200-300 degree heat would still be cool enough to help.

Spend time switching to disc, not worth time on small 9 in brakes stock on your car

I remember seeing a car magazine machining five 1" holes in the face of the drum between the lugs. They claimed it did not weaken the drum, but did increase airflow and cool the brakes. Doesn't sound like a good idea for a daily driver where it rains or snows, but for a race car, it probably would help.

My only concern would be spraying water during a rainy trip along the highway....you'd end up picking up a lot of water and soaking the drum brakes and having little to no initial stopping power from them until they dry out. Ask anyone whos been offroading with an old 4WD with drum brakes what the braking is like after the cross a river....lol.
