Okay, I've got a small block chevy (383 stroker) that has a pinging problem between 1700 and 2100 rpm. I've played w/initial timing from 2 degrees BTDC (stumbles) to 12 degrees BTDC. Still pings @ the same RPM range. Disconnected the vac advance, same story. I'm running complete MSD ignition (6A box, 8361 distributor, red wires) and the plugs are gapped @ .050 with a Demon 725 cfm carb. I'm using 93 octane (compression is 10:1). Am I missing something as far as the tuning? It's driving me nuts, HELP!!!:dunno:

What cam?
What is your cyilinder psi?
steel or aluminum heads?
what is your advance curve on the dist.?
I run 200-205 psi 16 initial 34 total(start at 1000 rpm-all in at 3000 rpm) 48 total with manifold vacuum starting at 8 inches of vacuum on a 10.3-1 383 with aluminum heads in hot(100
+) weather with no probs.
