I really like the factory shifter in my 68 Camaro..........It's already been converted for use with a 4 speed...........But.....does anyone know of anybody out there that can convert it to be a rachet action shifter.

In my opinion this would be awesome...........can anyone help.

Thanks for any input.

I can't remember,do you have the single lever or the big staple looking shifter? You can use a 73+ Camaro shifter, if you push it to the side it offers a positive ratchet shift action.

I've got the "staple" looking shifter..........kind of looks like a pilots throttle........I'd prefer to stick with it..........I just really like the look......just need to find some one that can modify it or find someone that sells one aftermarket...........Otherwise I'll just stick with it like it is.

Maybe I can incorporate my handle onto a Mega Shifter or something.......I'll have to look at it. I think the Mega Shifter's internals are to bulky though.

I'd appreciate it..........I figure there's probably several of us that would like our staple shifter to have ratchet action.

hmmm if i cant find anything, ill look at both a rachet and a staple and see if its adaptable by making some plates or something. Ill look into that this weekend when i get home.

Post some pics of the stock type shifter. I've got a Mege Shifter in my TA to compare to...

At the very worst, you could unbolt the Mege Shifter arm (two bolts) and trim down a stock shifter arm to bolt into there (about 1/4" thick). I've since cut down the Mega Shifter rod by about 2" or so to make it shorter because it was waaaaay to tall for my tastes.

That would be great MoeBawls.............I would do the same but I can't find the extra mega shifter anywhere.........

I'll have to get some pics done of the shifter..........but not sure it'll do much good with out measurements in the pic so that we can compare.

I wish I could find mine.........hopefully MoeBawlz can get something accomplished this weekend.
