I had a shop put on some new springs on my 67 Camaro last year. The car sat for a year after the springs were put on. I measured from floor to fender lip on both sides of the car and the passenger side is about 1/2" lower than the driver side.

My buddy was saying sometimes when people put the springs in they don't get them in the pocket correctly.

How can I check this? Is it pretty easy to visually see if they are not in the pocket?

Sounds like your buddy was correct to me. The springs are supposed to be rotated (indexed) so they fit into the spring pocket in the same position on both sides.

If I recall, the top of the springs, and the spring pocket, are not flat.

Is your garage perfectly level? Are the tires inflated to the same pressure? All of these things will effect how the car sits and can easily account for the 1/2" difference.

...don't forget the idea of a weak or un-equal rear leaf.

BTW is this with you in the car....sorry had to ask.:dunno: LOL

I would think that jacking up the front end of the car and releasing all the weight from it would cause the back end to level out. If it did, then it's a front spring. If not it would be a rear spring.

I too have heard about a front spring being installed incorrectly.

You might also want to check to see if some of the body mounts are shot.
