Just got everything hooked up on my 69 Camaro after several months of work.
It fired up right away...and sounded great. After about 5 minutes... it just quit.*^!@???
Fuel good, but no spark!
I changed the distibutor ...same problem.
What to do?

what kind of ignition? MSD? Make sure the box is getting power on both the main power and switched power wires, no blown fuses, etc. Also, if you have another coil, try that.

Thanx for reply.

It is a GM HEI.
1990 IROC Alternator.
Checked all fuses under DASH all OK.
Got 12 volts going in.

Sorry don't know much about ingition.

Well, the most common HEI issue it the module in the distributor, but if you swapped distributors, that probably isn't it. Unfortunately, that's about where my HEI knowledge ends, I haven't touched one for 15 years. Maybe someone else can jump in and help-- good luck-

I'll check other wires tomorrow. I don't have a lot of them hooked up yet.

I have 1990 sepentine pulley system. There might be an issue with the alternator...I'm thinking again.:banghead:
Maybe someone else has seen this....... It is like a fuse problem, cuz it was runing good.
Is there a relay somewhere in the old system that may be in conflict??

Here is a link to the article paul67 was talking about

For some reason you have to copy and paste the link to get to the right location - a simple click won't work

Thanx for the link. Did a couple of tests. Found problems with the pick up coils on both. What r the odds o that??? Oh well...

These units were older than dirt. Maybe could not handle the extra juice.
Kinda borrowed one from #1 son. I still used my old cap & coil
Worked like a champ.
Thanx again.
