i have the hotchkis 2 inch drop springs along with the ATS tall spindles and the car sits at stock height i would guess. i have a 3 inch drop in the rear and the rear is LOW. the front is sposed to have a 3 inch drop as well though. anyone know why this could be?

thanks

Have you had the front aligned yet? Also, did you check to see that nothing was binding up? Also, what is the spring rate?

Do the springs need to settle?

If the springs are new, or you just put the motor in, they will settle at least an inch..

Give it some time. If they're new...

Are the front springs seated in the pocket correctly?

AFAIK Hotchkis and Eibach springs don't 'settle' like factory ones do.

they are brand new. i havent driven it yet. and i still need to put the hood, inner fender wells on, and all the grill pieces. bt i cant see putting that stuff on lowering it even an inch.

Put that stuff on, just to be sure. I've got the Hotchkis springs on my Nova and you could tell the difference from stock right away. I remember when I went to visit my friend for the first time in a few months, the first thing he said was "did you lower the front?"

It sux that your springs arent low enough, but keep in mnd that trimming springs is a normal part of the process. The extra work is what sets the cars with perfect stance apart from the rest.

They'll settle, believe me.

I had a buddy who didn't want to wait for his springs to settle and he cut them... Then they settled and he had to use spring spacers when he wanted to drive it on the street..

If you have their big block springs, it'll sit too high. Everyone I talked too with them have been upset. It's even worse with anything aluminum on the motor. I had to switch a car to smallblock springs, that had aluminum heads.

well that sucks. i just wasted $180 bucks on those springs then. unless i try cutting them down.

As posted before make sure they are in the pockets, I did mine and they wer great. Tore it down and did some work. Did not get one in the pocket and it was high on one side. moved it an viola!!! Right down where it should have been.

Don't sweat it too much.

Check to make sure they are in the pockets. If so, drive it for a bit to see if they settle. If they don't settle you can start nicking off a 1/4 of a coil at a time until the stance is just the way you like it.

Parts get you in the ballpark, but it almost always takes some massaging from human hands to get things perfect.

well the springs i have in there are acually a bit lose as it is. whenever i jack the car up they move a little. im worried that if i cut some of the coil off they are just gonna bounce and rattle arond in there.

Just like the leaning leaf spring thread. Did you replace bushings too? And if so did you tighted the bolts with the car in the air or on he ground? Loosen all the bolts and tighten them with car on the ground.

i did replace the bushings and i did tighten it in the air. but a few days ago i loosend it all up and tightend it on the ground but no differance.

Then now you have a clean starting point for cutting.

Did you ever get this figured out Jesse? I installed My ATS Tall Spindles, Hotchkis S/B coils and speedtech CAs this weekend. The ride height was a noticeable drop. Here it is with a 225/50/16 tire... (soon to be 275/35/18 which have a 5/8" bigger diameter) No shocks on yet, but I can't imagine that would affect ride height too much.
