Hey guys!!! I am putting a t 350 in my chevelle. I want to use the new style dip stick tube with the better seal and the red locking flippy type handle. I need to know a year and application!!! I have been to all the parts places and GM dealers in my area and its like banging your head against the wall:banghead: !!!!! None of them show pictures or descriptions so I am nervous about guessing. I am thinking like an 87 monte carlo or caprice.? If so, will the bends be right for my 68 chevelle?? And does it have to be for a T350??? would one for a 200r4 or 700r4 work?? I know I have seen this done many times so I cant be the only one wanting to do this. HELP!!!!

Oh man You got me here.
Umm The bend is going to follow the trans not the tunnle.
I would try a Stcik for a 700R4 and you will need the seal for the new stick, It is no longer an oring.... yes the new seal will work in the old trans....

I have this type of dipstick in my 72 blazer w a TH400

400 Is not the same though

The last year for a th350 is around 84-85 I think. But I don't think they had the locking stick that far back. FRANK.

You could try but the tube is way different and won't read right. It would also have to be modified to even fit. If you had a dipstick that reads right already, you could switch to the new one and re mark it to have the right level. Seems like a hassle to get an impropper fill level. How about Locar or similar? If you don't like the look you could hide it in heater hose or paint it. FRANK

Are you looking for a trans fluid dip stick or oil level dip stick? If you want the red flippy locking thingy dip stick for trans fluid go to your local GM dealer and pick up a dip stick for a 94 or later full size truck.

Doesnt matter if its a 1500, 2500, or 3500 since the 700/4L60 and 4L80E use the same diameter dip stick tube. You'll have to shorten it and remark it but thats a pretty simple operation. Last one I bought was ~$20.

Yes I noticed that pickups had the type of stick I want but like you said they are too long and since I dont have ANY stick or tube I wouldnt know where to remark it. So I was hoping for one in a car would be the right length. Either way, was the 700r the only tranny that used this style of stick??? And other than the mark on the stick, will it fit my 350 trans???

Both the 4L80E and 4L60/4L60E/700R4 use the same diameter dip stick tube so a dip stick from any truck or suv from a 1500-3500 will give you the locking handle you want. Of course youll have to shorten and mark it for the level.

And other than the mark on the stick, will it fit my 350 trans???

Its been well over a decade since I messed with the TH350 so I cant say any of the following with 100% certainty so take it FWIW... Im pretty sure the th350 dip stick tube is the same diameter as the other models but I doubt very seriously if the other model tubes will fit the TH350 correctly without some bending or cutting/welding. I know the 4L80E tubes wont fit the 700R4 style trans even though both are the same diameter tube (the bends are all in the wrong places) so Im assuming that niether of them will fit the TH350.

If I were in your shoes I would procure a TH350 dip stick tube that fits your car and a matching dip stick and then procure one of the locking dip sticks I mentioned above. Use the stock TH350 stick to cut/mark the locking stick for use in the stock tube. Follow me?
