Hey guys,

When I built up my small block chevy, I got a chrome dress up kit. It's cheap and warps. I was just a kid and didn't know any better. The oil pan leaks pretty bad.

I'm wondering what's a good solid oil pan, and timing chain cover that won't warp from tightening the bolts.

I've been running with cast aluminum parts lately, several cast pan makers out there. The Comp 2 peice timing cover is great too. The 2 down sides are not impact friendly and cost more $$$

In the past ive had good luck with Moroso stuff. Its a reasonably priced alternative.

Simple answers.. Use a cast timing cover and valve covers. Plenty available. For the pan, buy a one piece rubber gasket that has steel inserts at the bolt holes. Then you can tighten down without crushing the panrail or gasket. I'm using Felpro number OS34500R. I got it from Summit.
