Crankcase evac system, mufflers?

So I'm looking at buying this kit:

I need it bad, and looking at vacuum pump kits, that's gonna be way in my future.

I notice it says not to run with mufflers. I have dual Flowmaster 40 series. I don't want to run with no muffler totally, do I need to go with like a Pypes Raco Pro or similar for the absolute least amount of back pressure?

Are you trying to stop oil from blowing past your seals or trying to make more HP? If you are just looking to stop the oil leaks you may want to look at an electric vac pump they cheap and work very well here is a link to an install http://grannys.tripod.com/evac.html There is a guy I work with that has one on his T-type (10.50 car) and he swears by it.

I have all forged internals and since I get oil drip out of my breathers when I go into the throttle even just a fair bit, a friend suggested this would help seal my rings better and prevent this. Said it worked wonders for him and was an old hot rodder trick. My rear main does leak a tiny bit too after some full throttle runs, and my dip stick comes out just a little. I also went up to a 195f thermostat at his suggestion as well.

I used that kit back in the 70's when I was drag racing. That system will start working once the engine rpm gets above about 3,000 RPM. But I found it to be next to useless on the street. A properly designed PCV system will be more effective at oil control. I had small annoying oil leaks until I installed an adjustable PCV valve from ME Wagner.

I just recently added a MightyMouse evac can setup to my car and it works fantastic. In fact, several of my friends have done the same since and all have had similar results. Dave at MightyMouse is very helpful in designing a setup specifically for your application.

I have done 2 full track days so far with the new setup and the engine has not used a drop of oil nor blown any oil out of the breathers.

Friend of mine lost 2 quarts of oil on one track day with his 2011 Camaro, he put a Mighty Mouse can setup on it and the next track day didn't use a drop. Controlling crankcase ventilation on newer engines that spend a lot of time at WOT is crucial...

Do what Lance says. I still don't think that it should work, but it does it's job perfectly.
