Hey all. I'm looking for some guidance on making a set of tubular rear control arms for a 4-link. My general thought is to use 52100 steel with weld-in tube adapters & 2 part spherical rod ends from QA1. What I'm wondering though is what size tubing to use along with what size shank for the rod end. Does anyone have any recommendations or pictures from past experiences that could be shared? Thanks for helping the new guy.

If you use 1" diameter .156 wall DOM tubing, you do not need weld in adapters for the rod ends. The .156 wall tubing has the correct ID to tap 3/4-18 NF threads so 3/4 rod ends screw right into the tube. That eliminates the chance of a weld failing on the adapters.

Why not 1018 steel dom?

Regular old "mild steel" is plenty strong enough... think of what the frame is made of ...1/8"... unless youre feeding this thing some serious power
