I am working on a 71 Chevelle. It has a 454 and pretty stock suspension besides the UMI sway bar. The suspension was rebuilt by the previous owner using moog parts. Now eventually I want to upgrade all the components to UMI but life is happening and it may be a while. I want to drive the car eventually so here is what I have. I got a set of UMI 2" drop springs. I was looking at the UMI shocks and want to know if they are good for street use, no auto cross. Any other ideas? I don't want to spend a ton of cash but want to get a decent shock. Thanks in advance guys!

I would just install Gabriel Ultra shocks for now until you really decide to upgrade the suspension, if at all. I have the Ultra's in the rear of my 69 Camaro for now as well. I have nothing crazy in the rear suspension, just Hotchkis drop leafs. They are damn cheap from Rockauto.com.

Koni classics. DSE uses them in the speed 1 kits

For the price and warranty you can't beat Ridetech RQ or HQ shocks and the million and one mile warranty can't be beat. Buy once. Only better choice would be to sell springs and stuff and upgrade to Strong Arm lowers and some Coilovers.

Since, your main purpose is only grocery gett'n, I would use the Koni Reds.
