I just received axles from Strange for my 9" rear end housing (Strange center section). I decided to check the lengths before I had the bearing pressed on. So I slid them into the housing until they hit the pin and found a difference in the spacing between the rear end housing and axle flanges. On one side it's 1.938 and on the other side it's 2.159. Of course, with the bearings in place the spacing would be equal (I'm using Baer brakes and I think I need 2.5"), but wondering if the difference will cause an issue I haven't thought of. One will end up being .562 from the pin and the other will be .341 from the pin, but not sure if it will matter since there plenty of spline. Thoughts?

If the Housing was made for a GM, it is offset to one side

Yes, it's for a 70 Firebird, and I'm aware of the offset. I gave Strange all the measurements they requested and they figured the axle lengths. I'm just wondering if the difference I described is normal and if not, will it matter. I guess to ask the question a different way, if you insert 9" axles into a housing without bearings installed, should the space between the housing and axle flange be equal, and if so, how much variance can I get away with?

Well, I had the bearings pressed on today and now I'm really stumped. As the photo shows, the distances from the top of the bearing to the inside of the axle flange are different. One is 2.5 while the other is 2.75. Shouldn't they be the same?
