I've seen those kits at Summit...thinking of doing one myself. You think it's worth the $20? I wonder if the washers are just regular washers? What makes the kit $20?

My solution has always been to remove the high pressure output bung from the back of the pump and drill out (Enlarge) the high pressure output orifice hole slightly larger to reduce output line pressure. Off the top of my head I cannot remember what size bit I used on the older style GM pumps however I will see if I can find it as I marked that bit specifically as "The Bit" for GM power steering pump pressure reduction on the old "Metal Canister" pumps. Not sure how this would relate to a newer style PS pump.

It took several tries to find the right one however when I did it made a world of difference. Just a slight increase in orifice size make a big difference. This little mod makes far more difference on a Ford pump and Ford PS from the 60's-70's was way over assisted.

Not near as sexy as a "Kit" however it works!

I'd be interested to know what size bit you used. I'm willing to gamble on your word with an old pump. Let me know if you find it.

Thanks!
