Got a 700R4 tranny behind my 383, 450HP 450 tq. Burned up the converter last weekend cruising at about 80mph. My mechanic who built the tranny and did some hot rod trick stuff to it, suggests that my next converter be a Non-lock converter. Everything I've read however states that this is NOT a good idea. He says he can keep it cool however and not lose performance. Any opinions or experience with this idea? Thanks

theres a conversion kit that needs to be installed in these trans to run it correctly with a carb. dont remember the name of it but summit carries it. installed one in a 700 r4 i had and put 30k (89 formula 383 375-400 hp) on it and the guy is sold it to is still driving it. big trans cooler helps also.
